The Mount Merrion Senior choir travelled to Limerick on Saturday March 4th to compete in the Limerick Choral Festival. Conducted by Kevin O’Regan and accompanied on piano by Bláthnaid Murphy, 30 members of the choir made the journey to take part in the Church Choir (singing in parts) category of the competition.

The choir performed excellently on the night, singing Bruckner’s Locus Iste and Samuel Webbe’s Regina Coeli in the beautiful St. Augustine’s Church. The choir placed 3rd in the competition, with Limerick’s Cantate Deo and Ennis Cathedral Choir taking 1st and 2nd place respectively.

The choir members greatly enjoyed the experience of performing in competition, and were able to appreciate some incredible performances in the Plainchant, Unison Church Choir and Early Music categories that were also taking place.’
