Mount Merrion Parish Team
We have a dynamic Parish team including the Priests, Catechist, Sacristan and Parish Office.
Supporting them is the Parish Pastoral Council as well as a 300 strong group of volunteers who work with the Parish Group
co-ordinating team, to help with the running of the Parish.
We always look for more volunteers and would love to hear from you if you want to get involved. Please use the form on the right.

The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative leadership group through which priests and people work together as partners in furthering the mission of Christ in the parish. The Church comes to life in a parish when members support and care for one another, proclaim and live by the Gospel, celebrate sacred liturgy and work in charity and justice for the good of the parish and the wider world. The primary ministry of the Council is to collaborate in planning the way forward for the parish. It does this in the context of the circumstances of the parish, in the light of the gospels, the teachings of the Church, the signs of the times and the reflections of the members of the parish community. The Council recognises that all parishioners share in the mission of Christ in their own right as baptised members of the Church, that people legitimately expect to participate actively in anything that impacts on their lives and that our parish needs to be shaped by this if it is to enable all of us to fulfil our Christian mission. The present PPC was elected after a process of discernment by parishioners for a three-year period. The council members for 2023 to 2025 are:
- Clodagh O’Reilly (Chairperson)
- Florence Conroy (Vice Chair)
- Mary O’Shea (Secretary)
- Padraig Staunton
- Fr Joe Mullan
- John Barry
- Martina Mc Namara
- Audrey O’Sullivan

This Team is a recent change to the organisation of lay involvement in the Parish. Like its name suggests its role is to coordinate the various Parish ministries and services which are now organised under 5 umbrella groups (See Groups Page ).
- Communications
- Faith Development
- Family
- Liturgy
- Social Justice
A designated coordinator is responsible for liaising within each umbrella group and between other umbrella groups. The current Team members are:
- Liturgy – Orla O’Grady Walshe
- Communications – Ann Markey
- Family – TBC
- Social Justice – TBC
- Faith Development –TBC
- Child Safeguarding ( Not a Group) – Michele Kehoe – Child Protection Officer
The Team meets regularly with the Parish priest(s) and catechist and serves with the guidance of the Parish Pastoral Council.
The overall objectives are to facilitate greater communication between the groups and to keep the focus on the shared parish vision of “At the heart of the Church, Love”. This is becoming more important as the number of priests is reducing.
These changes to the organisation of the parish groups arose from an initiative following the Parish book clubs which were formed to consider Pope Francis’ book “Evangelii Gaudium: The Joy of the Gospel. The PGCT can be contacted at mountmerrionpgct@gmail.com
